Consistency in the format of "Download Titles" is important, and here are the guidelines.

2. Make your titles as informative as possible
3. Just be smart and try to make it as clean as possible
4. CONTINUE READING

The following is a thread I made a while ago on a different forum with outdated pictures, but you'll get the idea. You can use this as a guideline on how to create a good post, if you so choose to do so.
HOW TO WRITE A GOOD POST!
This post is meant to be looked at as a guideline, and not necessarily the "Rules" of posting. This is meant to show people what a quality post should look like and what it should and should not include.
1. MOST IMPORTANT RULE: CHECK YOUR LINKS!
ALWAYS check your links to make sure they still work and have not been deleted before you post them. If the upload is hosted by rapidshare.com, then use this to check them very easily and quickly:
Code:
http://rapidshare.com/en/checkfiles.html
All you have to do is copy and paste the links into the box, and click check URLs, and it will return for each link whether it was found and active, or if the upload is no longer active. I'm fairly certain rapidshare.com is the only site that has this feature, but feel free to post any more URL checkers here.
2. ALWAYS CODE YOUR LINKS!
When posting links, ALWAYS wrap CODE tags around the links. This can be done manually by typing (without the *) [CODE*] at the beginning and [/CODE*] at the end OR you can simply highlight all of the text you want put in a code box and click the pound symbol/number sign shown here

Please do not post links in QUOTE tags, only use CODE
3. DON'T CODE LINKS AS HYPERLINKS!
A hyperlink, also known as a "live link", is just a link that has been wrapped in URL tags, and when you can click on the text, you are automatically taken to the link's location, or site.
Please do not code your links as hyperlinks! A hyperlink is made, like I said, by wrapping the link in URL tags. This can be done manually by typing (without the *) [URL*] at the beginning and [/URL*] at the end, or by just highlight EACH LINK individually and clicking the little globe button.
4. IF THERE IS A PASSWORD, POST IT!
There's not much to be said here. MAKE SURE you check to see if the upload you're using uses a password, and COPY AND PASTE the password just to be safe.
The things just mentioned are basically the "Rules", or what you're supposed to do. These are just a few guidelines to make your post the best it can possibly be!
1. POST PICTURES, THEY'RE PRETTY!
Posting pictures enhances your post dramatically. It shows what the file looks like, what it does, or maybe it's just the cover of the box, but in any case, it just makes it look like you did more! It shows you're more dedicated and are willing to go the extra mile to make your post look great.
To upload a picture yourself, the easiest way to do it is to save the desired picture to your hard drive, then go to
or
or any other image-hosting website
YOU MUST UPLOAD THE IMAGE YOURSELF, YOU MAY NOT USE AN IMAGE DIRECTLY FROM ITS SOURCE.
and hit browse...Find your picture, and press ok, then upload! It will output many different formats for which the picture can be linked. You want the one that says "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards:" copy and paste the link exactly, and paste! It's that easy
To use an existing picture from another post or site, just right-click on the image and click "Copy Image Location". Then all you have to do is click the "Insert Image" button (it looks like a mountain with a sun in the background) and hit control+V (paste), and click ok! To manually wrap a link in IMG tags, just type (without the *) [IMG*] at the beginning of the link, and [/IMG*] at the end of the link's image.
NOTE: If you use an existing image location, sometimes it doesn't go through, so be sure to check your post and make sure the image went through and is visible.
2. IN DEPTH DESCRIPTION
A detailed, helpful description of whatever you're posting, be it game, application, or otherwise, is essential to a quality post. It gives the potential downloader an insight into what this download can do for them and then determine whether or not they are interested.
There are many sites that can offer very good descriptions that can be easily cut and pasted into your post to help the reader along.
1. If you're leeching from another forum or site, and the post has a decent, informative description, well you're in luck! Just copy and paste that right into your post and you're done, now all you have to do is post a few pictures (which may be provided as well!!).
2. If you're uploading it yourself, or the description just isn't up to par, you can use these sites to help you find a paragraph of information you can be proud to plagiarize.
Of course, the big kahuna of all information databases: wikipedia. Just type in the search bar whatever you're posting, and more often than not you'll have yourself a VERY extensive description, often with pictures. Wikipedia is usually more helpful to find game descriptions, but can be helpful for other things as well.
This site is an excellent source of information and screenshots for almost any game you can find. Usually Gamespot has everything, but often very old or unpopular games may not have a review posted there.
When in doubt, google it. Chances are, if you put something in that search bar, you're going to find some information, whether you want to or not. All hail the greatest search engine of all time.
3. MIRRORS!
A mirror is just another source for the same file that you're uploading. Usually it means posting links to completely different file sharing networks to ensure that your downloader can find working links with the network or their choice. In many cases, users may have "premium accounts" that make it much easier to download.
This is by far the hardest guideline to follow. Posting mirrors usually takes a lot more searching and effort and in most cases is impossible unless you upload it yourself. No one will blame you for not posting mirrors, but if you do, it's almost all of the time hugely appreciated by the users.
Finding mirrors is tough. Sometimes you can get lucky on another forum and someone has already posted 2-3+ mirrors, but 99% of the time that doesn't happen.
What can you do?
What you can do is go to sites like
or
and use the search engine there to search for whatever file you're posting and see if you can find a post that has a mirror. Remember, this is totally optional and in no way enforced by us.
4. Upload yourself!
The last thing you can do is upload the files yourself to a file sharing network such as rapidshare.com, megaupload.com, or any others. This enables you to re-archive RAR files with your own password, preferably...
In addition to all of this, you must always of course read and follow the official Rules of this forum
